Bottleneck John

Delta Blues from Sweden

Johan Eliasson a.k.a. Bottleneck John was born and raised in a small community called Lit, a small village 25 km's outside Östersund, Sweden. Music has always been in his life!! His grandfather did his first recordings on an old tape-recorder when Johan was three years old. His grandmother Elna's relatives are(were) all good musicians and she was the one who got Johan into singing. He used to sit in her lap when she played an old pump-organ and sang old Swedish folk-tunes. Bottleneck John has been playing blues for a long time with different bands. It all began electric, kind of a blues-rock with lots of screaming guitars. With age came the love for softer pure acoustic music. Bottleneck John is influenced by Son House, Eric Bibb, Taj Mahal, Tampa Red, Blind Willie Johnson, Corey Harris and many other bluesmen. A highlight in his career so far was his participation in the Swedish National Television show called Go'Kväll in front of nearly one million people!! Together with the band Heart and Soul Bottleneck John played his own tune "I miss You" which is a song about desire, and the love for someone you've lost. In 2005, Bottleneck John released his CD Blues Singer.
