Bob Corritore

Blues Harmonica Player, Club Owner, Producer, D.J.

A native of Chicago, Bob Corritore got hooked on the blues as a teenager. By his late teens, he was sitting in on harmonica with some of the greats on Chicago's south side, including Magic Slim, Honeyboy Edwards, and Mighty Joe Young. He had his own record label by the time he was in his early 20's, producing an album on Louisiana Red that was nominated for a W. C. Handy Award. He has also produced recordings by Kim Wilson, Louisiana Red, Mojo Buford, Big Leon Brooks, Little Willie Anderson, and Henry Gray's Handy-Award-nominated album of 2001, Plays Chicago Blues (also on HighTone Records). After moving to Phoenix, Bob Corritore and his partners opened The Rhythm Room in 1991, and it quickly became a favorite stop for blues performers on the circuit. Besides his duties as entertainment director for the club, he's also become one of the area's most popular DJs, hosting "Those Lowdown Blues" every Sunday on KJZZ-FM. (quoted from hightone.com)
