Mike Wheeler has been playing the blues for over 23 years.He did his first blues gig with Muddy Waters sideman Lovey Lee in 1984. In the early 90's he played with bassist and vocalist Joan Baby. He then became a member of Cadillac Dave & The Chicago Redhots. He can be heard on their cd Checking On My Baby. Mike also did a stint in the band Sam Cockrell & The Groove, playing on their cd entitled I'm In The Business. In 1998 he joined Big James & The Chicago Playboys, whom he still performs with today. He has played on two cd's with Big James, If It Wasn't For The Blues and Now U Know. Mike has performed with Koko Taylor, Shemekia Copeland, Willie Kent, Jimmy Johnson and Son Seals just to name a few. He has formed The Mike Wheeler Band with Cleo Cole on drums, Lawrence Fields on sax, Larry Williams on bass, and Brian James on keyboards. (quoted from Mike Wheeler's page at myspace.com)
